Studies in vitro have underestimated the importance of cGMP-dependent protein kinase
(PKG) in the modulation of vascular smooth muscle cell (SMC) proliferation and apoptosis in
vivo. This is attributable, in part, to a rapid decline in PKG levels as vascular SMC are
